What is self-organizing?

A self-organizing group is NOT hierarchical but one that organizes itself into action.
These groups don't wait for instructions and directions from a manager like a traditional team; a self-organizing group identifies the essential tasks that need to be done while managing and prioritizing their deadlines.
When we think of self-organizing we think about several of the principles from the Agile Manifesto that apply to our work.
Values we borrowed from the Agile Manifesto...
Build projects around motivated individuals. Give them the environment and support they need, and trust them to get the job done.
At regular intervals, the groups reflect on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.
Simplicity--the art of maximizing the amount of work not done--is essential.
